Building Digital Tools for the Next Generation of Fencing

From producing Bladework on TV to developing fencing.community online — insights from a coach, organizer, and 2025 USA Fencing Leadership Academy selectee on shaping the sport’s digital future.

About the Founder

Michael Grosse is a 2025–26 USA Fencing Leadership Academy selectee and former university coach on national championship–winning club teams (UNH) who just earned his own A25 rating in epee.

Today he organizes one of Florida’s fastest-growing epee events and serves as Social Media Chair for his local division. All while running his own digital transformation business. As the founder of a platform building digital tools for fencers, parents, and clubs, he’s helping bridge fencing’s traditions with the opportunities of modern technology.

In this interview, Michael can share why now is fencing’s moment to embrace digital tools — and how technology can make the sport more accessible, connected, and sustainable for the next generation.

Insights Michael Can Provide

  • Bridging Tradition & Innovation: Respecting fencing’s heritage while introducing modern systems that strengthen, not replace, community ties.
  • Practical Implementation: What tools matter most (and which are distractions) for clubs, divisions, and event organizers.
  • Tech Entrepreneur Perspective: Lessons from decades of building digital solutions for businesses and how they apply to sports organizations.
  • The Needs Gap: How competitive experience as a coach and event organizer informs the design of tools that actually serve the fencing community.
  • Sustainable Growth: How technology can reduce volunteer burnout, increase retention, and make fencing more welcoming to newcomers.
