Time to shake out the rust...literally

Be Competition-Ready on Day One

Don’t let offseason rust, accidentally packed-away sweaty gear, or outright misplaced equipment derail your season. Even if everything seemed fine when you put it away, months of sitting idle can make problems worse: blades can develop rust or corrosion, wires and connections can become intermittent, elastic in knickers and straps can dry out, and gear that wasn’t properly dried or cleaned may start to smell—or even rot. Small items like screws, springs, or plugs can get moved, lost, or bent while stored.

This quick guide will help you catch these issues before your first competition, so you’re not scrambling to fix equipment at the last minute or buying replacements you could have maintained over the offseason. Think of it as a “gear check-up” to keep your fencing smooth and stress-free from day one.

Every weapon has its own quirks, so we have broken down a generalized checklist by gear type:

  • Weapons & Electricals
  • Protective Gear & Clothing
  • Shoes & Glove
  • Spares & Maintenance Kit
This list is always expanding. Check back often.
