CounterIntel: Footwork, Measured

One phone clip, three numbers, and early access for members

Footwork you can feel but can't see

Ask any fencer where a bout was won and the answer is usually the feet. Ask them to prove it and the answer gets quiet. A coach can see a lot from the side of the strip, but a coach can't count every step, and you can't watch yourself while you fence.

CounterIntel is built for that gap. It turns footwork into real numbers, from an ordinary phone video.

What it measures

Your fencer films one clip on any phone. CounterIntel reads it and sends the numbers back:

- Cadence: steps per minute. How fast the feet are really moving. - Step balance: left and right, and the lead foot. Where the work is actually going. - Lean and stability: posture and control through the motion.

There are no sensors and nothing to mount on the strip. Session tracking and coach review are on the roadmap.

Who it's for

If you've hit a plateau, footwork is usually the first place to look, and now you can look at it with numbers instead of a feeling. Clubs and tournament organizers can put a number on footwork too, without installing anything.

Built by fencers

CounterIntel is a collaboration between fencing.community and its co-founders Ida Choy, a foil and Γ©pΓ©e fencer with 20+ years of competitive fencing who represents Hong Kong at the Veteran World Championships, and Michael Grosse, an A-rated Γ©pΓ©eist, coach and tournament director who founded fencing.community.
